Postural System
The aim of posturology is to provide a treatment no longer based on the symptoms (pains) but on the causes, and one of reprogramming those out-of-tune sensors in the system.
Posturology is not an alternative medicine but a new way of combining certain parts of the medical field by trying to have a vision closer to the causes than the symptom. The pathologies concerned are no longer considered fatal and posturology is all about discovering their origins.
The spine or vertebral column must perform two relativity contradictory functions : to be solid and yet flexible.
The whole unit (vertebrae, inter-vertebral discs, ligaments and support muscles) must function in a perfectly co-ordinated manner, and it is the postural tonicity system which achieves it. When an element of that system is modified and imbalance sets in - the pain starts.
BACKACHE : AILMENT OF THE CENTURY
The statistics speak for themselves : backache blinds the life of so many North Americans and sports-people.- 47,6 % men and women suffer from it
- 30 % of young people from 7 to 17 complain of backache
- backache and rheumatic pain constitute the third biggest health bill item in North America.
- each year 13 million working days are lost due to back-related problems.
CONCLUSION
If there is failure to progress or" fall-off "in performance despite training, and numerous repetitive incidents in sportsmen, all this is generally connected with the body being in an unbalanced position. This situation arises because of the purely symptomatic treatments usually prescribed and the total ignorance of the systems that govern the postural system. The mechanical component of the pains, arthritis or vertebral deformations is only rarely taken into account!
The body being in an unstable position sets up abnormal forces throughout the elements making up the vertebral column (vertebrae, inter-vertebral discs, ligaments and supporting muscles). It is these forces that in the end give rise to the pains, stiffness and contribute to arthritis developing. The real cause is therefore usually a mechanical one.
What is responsible for these pathologies? : the system thrown out-of-tune by the abnormal information signals it receives from the peripheral sensors : feet, eyes, teeth, skin etc.
GOOD FEET, GOOD EYES
These two elements constitute the primary inputs of the system, any disturbance due to ground-contact or of optical origin will have repercussions on the postural ensemble. These sensors being out-of-tune is extremely frequent, and most of the time is present without being noticed. While feet and eyes provide the principal and most frequently encountered causes, there are others too that give rise to postural imbalance, certain types of scars, and the manducatory system.
